Tunnel Springs

This trail is located near Placitas, a convenient distance from Albuquerque. It’s a 4.1 mile moderate climb that offers spectacular scenic views from the crag. This trail generally has less people, making it a perfect area for anyone seeking a more solitary or intimate climb.


Want an outdoor adventure close to the city? U-Mound is the closest outdoor climbing area from Albuquerque. Get a good workout and climb giant granite boulders in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains.

The TV Station

If you’re interested in climbing the best quality limestone in Albuquerque, visit the TV station! It’s a small limestone bouldering area that is located at the top of the Sandias, just north of the Sandia Crest. This area is cooler and more shaded, making it a great area for anyone who’s looking to avoid the heat.

Palomas Peak

Palomas Peak is within the Sandia Mountains, about an hour drive from Albuquerque. It’s a technical sport climbing with a good quality, very sharp, particularly textured limestone surface. It’s a great area for anyone up for a thrilling challenge!
