Visit The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park

Experience a day birdwatching, hiking, and viewing the beautiful wildlife that Albuquerque has to offer.

Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is positioned alongside the Rio Grande flyway. This state park offers exceptional bird watching all throughout the year with access to observe about 250 different species of birds. The 270-acre area of riverside forest and meadows also features two miles of hiking trails that wind throughout nature alongside and right up to the Rio Grande.

The visitor center offers both indoor and outdoor wildlife viewing areas that overlook the ponds, demonstration gardens and exhibits, guided tours, education programs, and a nature gift shop. It’s also a great place to have a picnic!
